Shira Kogan is absolutely thrilled to join EPIC Motion this season. Having been a long-time fan of EPIC Motion while attending college in Boston, when she moved to NYC in January 2016, joining EPIC was at the top of her to-do list.
Shira’s dance background begins when she was a small child who would literally not stop dancing. Growing up in San Francisco, all of her home videos involve her throwing herself around the living room and forcing her little sister to put on shows with her. Some family favorites included a dance routine with her sister to “Hey Now, Hey Now, This is What Dreams Are Made Of” by Hillary Duff. From taking tap, ballet and jazz in her youth (#studiokid) to beginning hip-hop dance in Middle School, Shira’s passion has grown to encompass a love of choreographing and teaching dance alongside performing. Whether in her role as Director of Harvard’s Expressions Dance Company, or in competing on Static Noyze Dance Company in Boston and on Groove Against the Machine in Oakland, dance has taught Shira so much and she loves nothing more than to share the inclusive and expressive nature of dance with those around her.
