Jennifer began dancing during the summer of third grade with Ballet Hispanico on a full scholarship after performing with their elementary school program, Primeros Pasos. At that Upper West Side studio, Jennifer was first exposed to ballet and flamenco, later expanding her dance vocabulary with classes in Latin Jazz, Pointe, Dunham, Horton and Limon. During her time there, Jennifer was fortunate enough to be part of Ballet Hispanico’s Junior Ensemble, giving her opportunities to perform for People en Espanol and Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, as well as be the school’s poster child for a year.
When high school came along, Jennifer attended the prestigious Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, aka “the Fame school” as a Dance major. At LaGuardia Arts, she was given more specialized training in ballet/Pointe, Graham, Horton, Tap, and Jazz, as well as classes in Injury Prevention, Anatomy, Audition Etiquette, etc. In her Junior and Senior years, the program hosted dance concerts showcasing student choreography and had outside choreographers set pieces on the graduating class. Jennifer is very blessed to have been given such an amazing experience at LaGuardia Arts, interacting with so many artists from all backgrounds on a daily basis.
In college, Jennifer continued her training as a Dance minor and was first exposed to more urban, hip-hop styles. She joined PUSO Modern her freshman year at Stony Brook University. During her four years there, she had the honor of choreographing for various sets and attending competitions with the collegiate team. Jennifer is a new addition on Epic Motion’s Season 9 and is looking forward to training with this group of powerful dancers for as long as she can. Say hi the next time you see her so that she can touch your butt.
